3 Reasons Why A Relational Business Is Better Than a Transactional One

Relationships are a part of everyday life. Sometimes they’re great, sometimes they’re challenging. But you can't escape the reality of being in a relationship at some point in your life.

Every single experience happens within a relationship… because we are human.

Humans run businesses, so it makes sense that a business consists of many different kinds of relationships. But not all businesses embrace “relationships.”

There are two main types of businesses.
A Transactional Business and a Relational Business.

A Transactional Business is a business focused purely on the transaction. The sale is all that matters. The product is developed and thrown out there, and no one gets to know the owner throughout the process.

A Relational Business is a business focused on relationships. People matter most, and although the product is important, it is never more important than the person behind it.

In the My Sexy Business Team, we love relational businesses and all that it stands for.

Here are our 3 biggest reasons why building a relational business is different than building a transactional one.

You give yourself permission to be human.

You can’t deny the fact that you are human and that you have feelings and emotions. We all do, we are not robots.

A relational business allows you to:
  • Express your feelings and emotions.
  • Acknowledge and embrace the feelings and emotions of those around you.
  • Be vulnerable
  • Be exposed.
  • Do business differently.

A relational business takes the pressure off of you to be perfect and allows you to walk a long, raw and real road with colleagues and clients.

In a transactional business, the focus is not on the person but rather on the product. The human behind the product is often left unacknowledged and their feelings and emotions are not considered because all that matters is the product.

A transactional business might seem like a good strategy to make money fast, but it can leave the human behind the product feeling unimportant and unnoticed, which can lead to low self-esteem and self-confidence.

Others give you permission to be human.

When you have given yourself permission to be human, AND those around you have done the same, there is a mutual understanding between you, your colleagues and your clients.

This mutual understanding leads to mutual respect, where no one expects perfection from anyone and where everyone is willing to go through the good, the bad and the ugly together.

You all know and understand that things can get difficult but you don’t give up on one another because everyone has given themselves and one another permission to be human and to make mistakes.

You give yourself permission to take the pressure off.

Relational businesses don’t do the familiar but instead, take on the adventurous side of life.

Do you see the beauty in that?

You get to decide.

You don’t have to be placed in a transactional box where everything is done in a specific way for fear of creativity leading to mistakes when mistakes aren't tolerated.

Let’s be honest. You cannot escape the relational side of the business, no matter how hard you try. So, why not embrace it?
