Knight on horse Courage Series Part 2 3 Simple Ways To Have A Courageous Business Mindset
“Nobody ever said I wasn't afraid. I do it afraid. That's what we do. That's courage.” Kim White

A huge part of having courage in your business is having a courageous mind set.

But that doesn’t mean just pushing through your fears. Or putting on a “fake it til you make it” attitude.

Being afraid is not something to take lightly. There are real reasons behind why you might be afraid to do what needs doing.

When you’re starting out in business, you need to speak truth into those fears as early as possible.

Here are 3 more lessons from a Knight’s Tale – but this time on how to start building a courageous mindset from Day 1 of your entrepreneurial adventure.

Courage Lesson 4: Stop Waiting For Permission

"How did the Nobles become Nobles anyway?" A Knight’s Tale

Have you ever hit pause on a part of your business because you were waiting for permission from “them?”

Or have you ever thought you can’t do something because "they" said it isn't possible?

Maybe you felt pressured to do something a certain way because "they" all do it that way.

But who are the THEY?

"I am a princess. And the confidence came from this movie 24 years ago to claim my princess status.” Kim White

This may not seem business-related, but the truth is that when you are confident in who you are, you don’t need “them” or anybody to give you permission or approval for who you are or how you want to run your business.

“This is a good way to squash some of the impostor syndrome.” Jill Olish

Challenge #4 is to figure out where you are giving “them” more of a voice than you should on your entrepreneurial adventure.

Courage Lesson 5: Believe In Your Goal Before It Seems Possible

"A man can change his stars." A Knight’s Tale

A peasant doesn’t have to stay a peasant forever. A peasant can become a knight!

And in business, you can choose to do something that you’ve never seen anyone else do. You might be the first person in your family to ever start the entrepreneurial adventure. And that is a significant thing.

When you have the courage to believe you can do something different, you can change your stars just by choosing differently.

“Yes, you can! You get that from karate! We can change the outcome.” Jill Olish

But it's not that you can do it simply because you want to. It takes effort.

The courage is to believe it, even when it doesn't look like it's possible. That's where the courage comes in.

Challenge #5 is to get clear. What do you need to believe to change your stars?

Courage Lesson 6: It Gets Worse Before It Gets Better

Whether you’re learning how to joust as a knight or how to run a virtual meeting as an entrepreneur, don’t expect to win first prize on the first try.

“How many of us entrepreneurs and business owners have gotten worse at what we were doing before we got better?” Kim White

It’s a common thing.

When you learn something the first time, you might know the steps, but you're still learning and understanding the best way to do it for yourself.

“Sometimes we're learning something your way, Kim, but then I have to go and "jillify" it so it’s going to work for me. So I'm going to get worse at transitioning from your way to finding my way, and then I'll get really good at it.” Jill Olish

Challenge #6 is to identify one skill where you will allow yourself to get worse before you get better.

Having a courageous mindset is the foundation of being a courageous entrepreneur.

When you are confident in who you are, genuinely believe in your goals, and are realistic about your growth journey, being a courageous entrepreneur will come naturally.

Yes, even when you feel afraid.
